Subject:
The Pet Refuge is a non-profit organization, also known for a
“No-kill” animal shelter. The shelter was established in April 1978 and is lead
by volunteers for the residency of abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs to find
reliable stable homes. They rely strictly on material and monetary donations from
people of our community.
Visual Concept:
The video will be providing the audience of a short realist
documentary about the Pet Refuge, approximately 4-6 minutes long. This story
will be done with the use of natural lighting to ensure a realistic feel. In
this documentary we will be showcasing clips of the cats and dogs, as they
appear joyful and adoptable. There will also be a walking tour of the facility,
as well as a conducted interview with the head leader Pam. We may also provide a clip of the open
adoption events that are held every Wednesday and Thursday night along with the
adoption process. At the end of the video there will be credits assigned and
any other additional information.
We are currently still in the process of scheduling a
shooting day with the head leader Pam.

Outline Script:
[Scene 1]
The beginning of the film will start out with a happy
tune/song containing short still clips and or images of friendly cats and dogs
currently living at the Pet Refuge. These short clips and or images will be
inviting, capturing close-up moments in time of these lovable adorable pets
playing, eating, and relaxing. Within these alternating clips and images will
be smooth transitions from one another.
[Scene 2]
There will be a short clip of one or more of the volunteers
standing outside in front of the building proudly saying/yelling, “Welcome to
the Pet Refuge, where new beginnings have happy endings”.
[Scene 3]
A tour of the facility as you enter the entrance, in which
this may be followed by a volunteer or interviewee (head leader). This will
consist of the main office, cat room, dog room, and any other rooms that are
used on a daily basis.
[Scene 4]
A closer look into the history behind the Pet Refuge. This
will entail an off-camera with only interviewer on-camera (Pam the head leader
of organization). All questions for the interviewee are edited out of the
finished film, only answers are retained. This interview will be conducted in a
small white room to help eliminate background noise with possible backdrop and
microphone for Pam. The goal here is to make the interviewer as comfortable as
possible. By doing this I may have her sitting in a chair or sitting on a
blanket on the floor holding an adoptable cat in her lap. If this causes any
distractions we will have to remove the animal from the interview.

[Scene 5]
This will consist of an open adoption event held on
Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm, as there will be two cameras from opposite
sides of the rooms filming the inter-action of potential candidates for
adoption. The same tune/song as introduced in the beginning of the film will be
the background noise for this scene.
[Scene 6]
The song continues, as this will be the end of our
documentary. Here is when credits will be presented and any other additional
information such as sponsors, donation details, adoption application, and link
for the Pet Refuge.
