Script

Interesting and most common phrases I over hear are:

1.     “That is good karma”.
2.      “The word common isn’t so common anymore”.
3.     “That’s an understatement”.
4.     “ Try this, push your tongue to the roof of your mouth it will stop your brain freeze.”
5.     “Don’t say I didn’t tell you so”.
6.     “Oh, you can hold on to that for me.”
7.     “That’s a typical man for ya”.
8.     “You know what really grinds my gears…?”
9.     “Hello, I’m losing you”.
10.  “OMG, are you serious”.

Setting: Two female friends just sat down at a booth in the bar of the restaurant to catch up.  Waitress came and greeted them, as they only ordered frozen margaritas and a side of spicy ranch for their chips and salsa.

Script 1

       Scene 1: Texting

Courtney: “Hey, how are things going”.

Genie: “Not good. We’re probably going to get a divorce”.

Courtney: “Ugh, why do you think your going to get a divorce?”

Genie: He asked for one.

Courtney: “What?!!! Out of nowhere.

Genie: We got into a stupid argument last night. Like we always do! I said I want us to go to marriage counseling. And he said no, you need to get a job. I said how will me getting a job help our marriage. He said so you can support yourself after the divorce”.

Courtney: “OMG. That’s bullshit, you have a job its called being a stay at home mother of two boys who cooks, cleans, and does her wifey obligations.”

Genie. “Yeah I know, I need a drink”.

Courtney: “We should go to hacienda tonight for $2.50 margaritas! Can you go, I’ll pick you up?”

Genie: “We should, I could really use one. I have to put the boys down for bed, can we go at 8pm?

Courtney: “That’s fine, see you then”.

Beat 1: Courtney pulls into Genie’s driveway. Genie gets in the car.

Courtney: “Hey girl, haven’t seen you in forever!”

Genie: “Yes, it’s been way too long!”

Courtney: “So, what’s going on?”As she drives away from the house towards the restaurant.

Genie looks at Courtney with tears in her eyes.

Genie: “I don’t know what to do, Tony wants a divorce. I cried all night last night after he said that to me.

Courtney: “I can’t believe he said that to you. You don’t deserve to be treated like that, how dare he. Well, you know I’m here for you”.

Genie: Thanks Court, now let’s go inside and get a margarita.

Beat 2: They sit down in a booth on the bar side, the waitress greets them and gets their order.

Waitress: “Here’s your margaritas ladies, enjoy!”

Courtney: “This is so good”. She takes a big gulp. “Oh no, brain freeze”.

Genie: “Try this, put your tongue to the roof of your mouth, it will stop your brain freeze”.

Courtney: “What, no way! Ok I’ll try it”. As they sit there laughing about how ridiculous she looks doing this.

Courtney: “How does that margarita taste? Does it feel good to get out of the house?”

Genie: “It’s amazing, I’m going to have to have another”, as she giggles. “It feels so nice to get out of the house and get to spend time with you, much needed girl time”.

Beat 3: As they sit there talking about what’s been going on in their lives they over hear the waitress talking to another table.
Guest 1: “I drank that way too fast, now I have a brain freeze”.

Waitress: “Did you know if you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth, it stops the brain freeze? ”

Guest 1: “Are you serious?”

Waitress: “True story, try it”.

Courtney and Genie look at each other with surprised faces.

Courtney: “OMG you just said that, hahaha”.

Genie: “I told you I was right, she must have over heard me telling you”.

Beat 4: They leave the restaurant and return back to Genies.

Genie: “I don’t want to go in”.

Courtney: “You will be fine, you got this girl. You have to stay strong for you and your children. You know I’m always here for you, anything you need.”

Genie: Thanks Courtney, that means a lot to me. I love hanging out with you, I can be myself and relax for once. Have a good night and I’ll text you later, bye”.

Courtney: “Bye girl, love ya. Have a good night”.

Each beat represents a change in the script as well as the characters too.

Subject:

The Pet Refuge is a non-profit organization, also known for a “No-kill” animal shelter. The shelter was established in April 1978 and is lead by volunteers for the residency of abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs to find reliable stable homes. They rely strictly on material and monetary donations from people of our community.

Visual Concept:

The video will be providing the audience of a short realist documentary about the Pet Refuge, approximately 4-6 minutes long. This story will be done with the use of natural lighting to ensure a realistic feel. In this documentary we will be showcasing clips of the cats and dogs, as they appear joyful and adoptable. There will also be a walking tour of the facility, as well as a conducted interview with the head leader Pam.  We may also provide a clip of the open adoption events that are held every Wednesday and Thursday night along with the adoption process. At the end of the video there will be credits assigned and any other additional information.
We are currently still in the process of scheduling a shooting day with the head leader Pam.

Outline Script:

[Scene 1]
The beginning of the film will start out with a happy tune/song containing short still clips and or images of friendly cats and dogs currently living at the Pet Refuge. These short clips and or images will be inviting, capturing close-up moments in time of these lovable adorable pets playing, eating, and relaxing. Within these alternating clips and images will be smooth transitions from one another.

[Scene 2]
There will be a short clip of one or more of the volunteers standing outside in front of the building proudly saying/yelling, “Welcome to the Pet Refuge, where new beginnings have happy endings”.

[Scene 3]
A tour of the facility as you enter the entrance, in which this may be followed by a volunteer or interviewee (head leader). This will consist of the main office, cat room, dog room, and any other rooms that are used on a daily basis.

[Scene 4]
A closer look into the history behind the Pet Refuge. This will entail an off-camera with only interviewer on-camera (Pam the head leader of organization). All questions for the interviewee are edited out of the finished film, only answers are retained. This interview will be conducted in a small white room to help eliminate background noise with possible backdrop and microphone for Pam. The goal here is to make the interviewer as comfortable as possible. By doing this I may have her sitting in a chair or sitting on a blanket on the floor holding an adoptable cat in her lap. If this causes any distractions we will have to remove the animal from the interview.

Questions:
What is your name?
What is your current position within Pet Refuge?
What is the Pet Refuge?
What is the history behind the Pet Refuge? When and whom?
What are some things this facility has to offer or provide?
What makes this facility so great?
How can the people in our community help the Pet Refuge?
How can the community get involved?
What are your hours of operation?
Do you provide open adoptions?
Are the animals up to date on vaccination?
Are you associated with any other animal clinics?
Last but not least who is the furry friendly friend your holding in your lap?
Is there anything else you would like to tell the viewers?

[Scene 5]
This will consist of an open adoption event held on Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm, as there will be two cameras from opposite sides of the rooms filming the inter-action of potential candidates for adoption. The same tune/song as introduced in the beginning of the film will be the background noise for this scene.

[Scene 6]

The song continues, as this will be the end of our documentary. Here is when credits will be presented and any other additional information such as sponsors, donation details, adoption application, and link for the Pet Refuge.

Documentary Subject

Documentary Subject: Tyler

This is my son, Tyler who continues to grow into a human being everyday. He is currently 2 years old and will be turning 3 in May, 2016. His interests are painting, playing with toys such as Thomas the Train and Hot wheels, watching Disney movies, singing and interacting with letters and numbers. I could use my son as a documentary subject focusing on child development of a toddler. Not only for his development skills but also to tap into the brain of a rapid growing toddler of how they socially interact, verbals skills, and how their mind works. It would be interesting to actually see through video the different emotions and reactions that toddlers face everyday and what triggers certain behavior. Also to compare results with other toddlers his age too, would be another intriguing aspect of child development.
Ten questions I would ask my son during an interview, which in this case would be more of an interaction process would be the following:
1. Do you know which letter this is? (Holding up flash cards or foam letters)
2. Do you know what number this is? (Same as above)
3. Can you say your ABC's?
4. Can you count to the number ten?
5. Can you tell me about your day today?
6. Who am I?
7. What is your name?
8.  Which animals are these? (as we look through his discover animal books)
9. Can you tell me what color this is? (looking through color book)
10. Do you know what this object is? (holding up flash cards)

These are all simple questions that can be used from an educational view point and his child development according to his age to see where he falls in that category but also to capture the thought process of a toddler.

Music Poster: On Tour

Our poster represents our song by providing the audience a sense of loneness and isolation. The inside of the barn looking out into the field in the background represents those feelings. By desaturation of color and hue of browns, reds and blacks, darkening the brightness and increasing the contrast gives the image a warn, vintage, country appearance. I photoshopped some major props that will be represented in our music video, such as the cowgirl boots, cowgirl hat, and the dried out weary flowers. The cowgirl boots and hat signifies the female country singer that will be the main character of the video. Where as the flowers represent a loss of love or heart break. I didn't show too much of the outside (field) I still wanted to represent it by having the window in the background containing cool colors of blues and greens as we will do some shooting outside, majority will be inside the barn. I added a wooden sign with text hanging on the barrel to represent the bands name as well as the song title on the window with big dark red stencil like typeface, which gives it more of a country feel.
Editor Notes: As for the editing we will be focusing on deep saturated colors such as browns, reds, and blacks; cool colors such as blues and greens to portray loneness, sadness and isolation. The video will have a slow rhythm to it as it follows the slow acoustic song. There will be some direct cuts but also some fading and dissolving transitions as well. I plan to add a title at the beginning in the bottom left hand corner fading into the next scene. But also at the end of the video I will also add title as well as the crew members names and roles.
